Sola Allyson Responds to Criticism Over Her Music Choices

Renowned gospel singer Sola Allyson has found herself at the center of a heated controversy, facing backlash for not explicitly mentioning "Jesus" in her songs. The criticism, which has been amplified on social media, has taken an emotional toll on the artist, leading her to share a heartfelt response.
The controversy began when Allyson's latest album was scrutinized for its lack of direct references to Jesus. Critics compared her to gospel legend Panam Percy Paul, who famously rejected a £24 million record deal in 1995 because it required him to reduce mentions of Jesus in his music. This comparison sparked debates about the role of explicit religious references in gospel music.

In an emotional video shared on her Instagram page, Allyson revealed the personal struggles she has faced due to the criticism. She tearfully stated, "I just finished crying. Today, I am not strong. Right now, the only thing keeping me afloat is my faith in God and the work I have built with my own hands."

Allyson also addressed the critics directly, saying, "Why are you people this callous and unkind? If this is what you are with your own Jesus, I don’t want to be identified with you lots!" She emphasized that her faith is deeply personal and not defined by outward displays or conformity to traditional expectations.

Despite the backlash, She stated, "I am not begging to belong anywhere. I know who I am, I know where I am going, and I know the light I carry. If what I do unsettles you, walk away. Do not add to another person’s burden with careless words—you may never know the weight they already carry."

Many fans have rallied behind her, praising her authenticity and courage to express her faith in her own way.
Some argue that explicit references to Jesus are essential in gospel music, questioning Allyson's approach.
