The Federal Capital Territory of Abuja was shaken recently as gunmen carried out a daring abduction in the Mamman Vatsa area along Mpape Road. The victims included Lt. Cynthia Ako, a Nigerian Navy officer, alongside two other individuals, Gold Alfred and an unidentified person.
According to reports, the gunmen ambushed the victims as they were returning home after visiting a relative in Beggar Quarry, Mpape. Witnesses described the attackers as armed and aggressive, firing shots randomly before taking the victims away. The abduction has left the community in shock, with many questioning the effectiveness of security measures in the area.
The kidnappers have reportedly contacted the families of the victims, demanding a ransom of N100 million for their release. This alarming demand has added to the anxiety surrounding the incident, as families and authorities scramble to negotiate and ensure the safe return of the abducted individuals.
In response to the abduction, a joint operation involving the Nigerian Army Guards Brigade, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the FCT Police Command, local vigilantes, and hunters has been launched. Efforts are underway to locate and rescue the victims, but the situation remains tense as residents call for urgent action to address the rising wave of kidnappings in Abuja.
