Korede Bello Reveals Tiwa Savage’s ‘Romantic’ Rejection

In a recent revelation, Nigerian singer and songwriter Korede Bello share intriguing story from his time as an artist under Mavin Records. The story, which revolves around the music video for his hit love song "Romantic" featuring Tiwa Savage, highlights moments of creative adjustments, cultural irony, and personal reflection.
Romantic” was one of the biggest love songs in Africa when it dropped, and the plan was to create a music video that brought its essence to life. Korede Bello and Tiwa Savage, both signed to Mavin Records at the time, were set to play lovebirds in the video, showcasing their chemistry as part of the narrative.

However, Korede was shocked when Tiwa declined to participate in the romantic scenes, citing their significant age difference. According to him, Tiwa said, “I can’t do this. You’re like a child to me. I’m 17 years older than you. I can’t let a small boy rock my body in a music video.” Her stance led to a creative shift, with the director castinng a vixen for the romantic scenes instead.

Korede moved on without complaint, but the experience left a lasting impression on him.

Years later, Korede found himself reflecting on this incident, especially after seeing Tiwa Savage's public interactions with Wizkid. Tiwa and Wizkid collaborated on projects that showcased undeniable chemistry, both in music videos and during performances. Korede pointed out the irony of Tiwa being comfortable with Wizkid despite their 11-year age gap, compared to her reluctance in his case.

Humorously, he remarked, “Life isn’t balanced at all.” His comment has since sparked debates online, with fans weighing in on the nuances of age, professionalism, and perceived favoritism.

One fan wrote, “Tiwa probably felt differently about Wizkid because their dynamic in the industry was different at the time. It’s not necessarily personal.” Meanwhile, another remarked, l“Korede really hit the nail on the head—life isn’t balanced! But we’re here for the music, so no hard feelings.”
